LPC's
150th Anniversary Celebration
is coming soon!
An important time for our church is coming in 2010 and we
are ready to make plans for our 150th Anniversary celebration.
The years passed quickly since our 125th, and as we prepare
we are asking the same questions:
what do we want to do and how do we do it?
who will be our leaders, our workers, our supporters?
Last week was a first and very positive meeting. 13 members
attended, and more expressed an interest. There still is space
for YOU. More hands make light work. Please consider joining
the committee.
Parker shared ideas and advised us to consult our neighbors
at the Methodist and Free Methodist Churches, as they have
recently celebrated milestones. The Free Methodists had a
"Homecoming" of all members and past members, which
worked well.
Among many ideas, the most important was to have more than
one main event. One idea would be a display of antique items
- for outside, cars, bicycles, farm implements, and inside
- vintage clothing, dishes, clocks, jewelry, etc. Many of
you have collections of items that we would welcome you to
share. And we want YOUR IDEAS.
These events would need funding, so we're dealing with that
up front. A few fundraising ideas were introduced, and support
would be coming from you, our church family, and the community.
We are adding special envelopes in the pews for contributions.
A committee member through a "Minute for Celebrations"
will present ideas on some Sundays.
An idea is to have a professional photographer take fine family
photos, which could be purchased by the families, then be
in an updated Pictorial Directory available for purchase.
The 150th and history would be added to it. This would be
a wonderful keepsake.
Watch for upcoming newsletter articles with future ideas.
We all will have an opportunity to take part in an event close
to our hearts.

One
of the committees ideas for a Fund Raiser
is to compile a recipe book. Sharon Foster has
done this for her family so she is familiar with the process.
She also is getting help from the
Deacons. Now, we are asking you to help us by giving us your
favorite recipes. You may turn them in at the office or give
to any Deacon. A deadline hasn't been set but please turn them
in soon so that the book may be ready sometime in January. We
thank you
in advance for your contributions.
