Meet Our Pastor

The Christmas season has finished and the New Year’s parties are over, so it must be a quiet time in the life of the church. Well, January might be a calm time in the expectations of our culture, but it is a busy time in the life of our church! I would like to highlight some of the events occurring in January:

Focusing Ministry Summit #2 is Thursday, January 12 from 6:30-8:30pm and Sunday, January 15 from 1:00-5:00pm! Our Focusing Ministry Initiative is a congregation-wide process for discovering God’s plan for our church. If you were at the first summit, you know if was a powerful event. If you weren’t at our first summit, we especially invite you to be here for the second summit. Attendance on both days would be ideal, but we would love for you to come whenever you are able. As a part of our family of faith, God has gifted you with a discerning mind and unique voice and we want to hear that voice as we discover what God has planned for us! If you have any questions, there is always a representative from the implementation team at both coffee hours.

New Members Gathering on Monday, January 9 and Monday, January 23, both from 6:30-8:30. Does this feel like your church home or are you interested in this church being your spiritual home? We invite you to join us on both of these Monday evenings as we explore what it means for the church to commit to you and for you to commit to Christ as part of this church.

Annual Congregational Meeting at a new time on Sunday, January 29! The Session has decided to change things up a little bit regarding our Annual Meeting. Instead of meeting in the evening, we will have one service of worship at 10:00 with our meeting and brunch to follow immediately.

Please be praying for the officers of our church during this busy month. Our new Deacons and Elders will be ordained and installed at our worship services on January 8. That afternoon they will have a time of training to prepare them for this new chapter in their ministry. The officer retreat will be on January 27 and 28 and will be a crucial time of discernment and planning for 2012.

We look forward to seeing you in worship and in ministry this month! May Christ’s blessings continue to be upon you and your family in 2012.
